Does the British Library have study spaces?
Everyone can use our Reading Rooms for study and research, and you don’t need to pre-book. You just need a Reader Pass, and you’re in.

To be able to access the reading rooms at the British Library you need to be a member. To become a member you have to be at least a first year undergraduate student and need access to something that they hold.

Who can join the British Library?
We’re continuing to offer as many online services as we can so that the British Library remains open to everyone, wherever you are in the world. We do not normally issue a Reader Pass to anyone under the age of 18, but we occasionally make an exception to see specific items which are unavailable in other libraries.
